Hospitality and Fellowship

Deacon: Miriam Moody

Our “Hospitality and Fellowship” mission can be found in Matthew 5: 13-16 from the Message version of the bible known as Salt and Light.

13 “Let me tell you why you are here. You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God flavors of this earth. If you’ve lost your saltiness, how will people taste godliness? You’ve lost your usefulness and will end up in the garbage.

14-16 “Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket do you? I’m putting you on a light stand!

Now that I put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives, by opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.

"Hospitality"--To be hospitable or friendly;       Fellowship or—companionship or friendship

The Hospitality and Fellowship Team desires to provide a welcoming atmosphere at Wesley Covernant Church by establishing “greeter” teams to welcome visitors when they enter into the church and again before they exit the church as well as provide social programs so visitors and members get to know each other and gain a sense of community or a “belong”. Refreshments are provide by various members of the church. We practice radical hospitality! We look for opportunities to meet people’s needs, direct them where to go and to help them to make connections with others of like mind.

You are here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. We are making a concerted effort to reach out beyond the walls of our church. This past year we offered two evening concerts by Nashville’s, Eric Horner, a country western musician, turned gospel singer and guitarist. Eric and his wife Deb by spend well over 250 days a year on the road ministering in churches and military bases all across America. Christmas and spring. invited! Come and be Blessed!

We offered a 6-week craft class making ornaments using needlepoint for the Christmas tree at the front of the sanctuary. Newcomers of all abilities are welcome. Coming soon we anticipate offering oil painting.

Last year we are built a live Nativity with a stable and streaming lights on site so that the children can come see close up live characters of Joseph and Mary, the Three Kings and Shepherds. This year 7 streams of bright L.E.D chasing lights will beam down on the stable from a Moravian Star nearly 30’ high at the front of the church.   Children and Adult Bibles were handed out to those who would like one.  Come join us next year to the construction and live characters.  We will bre in need of donkeys, goats and sheep.

The first Sunday of month we get together in the fellowship hall for a luncheon and celebrate birthdays and anniversaries of our congregation. All are welcome. You don’t need to bring anything. Come as you are!

We have numerous opportunities to get involved.  In our meetings we brainstorm getting the word of God to the community, find a need and fill it or one can work on promoting an event, building a stable, or provide enthusiasm, support projects and pray.

Individually you can do good things... TOGETHER WE CAN DO GREAT THINGS!
